Music can greatly enrich the life of a child through experiencing self-discipline, creative development and higher self-esteem. Through music experiences, children can become better listeners and develop pride in their sense of accomplishment. Music helps to develop problem-solving skills and correlates highly with overall academic achievement.
At Whitney Houston Academy, a well-rounded approach to music is encouraged. At the heart of the program is expression through singing, creating, and performing. These experiences allow students to learn teamwork, accuracy, patience, respect, perseverance, and risk taking. Students have only to gain from involvement in the arts. A well organized, sustained education in music gives children intellectual and creative skills that last a lifetime.
