Whitney E. Houston Academy Student Leadership Council

The Whitney E. Houston Academy Student Leadership Council is proud to represent and serve the student body at Houston Academy. The SLC consists of 23 student leaders in grades K-8 including the following elected eBoard positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Students in grades 3-8 are eligible to run for eBoard positions. Additionally, each class in grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade nominated a Class Representative to represent their homeroom class in the SLC. The SLC holds monthly meetings on the first Thursday of each month.

The goal of the Student Leadership Council is to promote a sense of community within the school, act as a voice for all students, provide community service, and raise funds for charitable causes and school improvements. The Student Leadership Council provides all students with opportunities to develop and build on their leadership skills. Throughout the school year, students participate in schoolwide activities and initiatives, community service activities, as well as, fundraising and school spirit events.
